Washington Heights ballroom best known as the site of Malcolm X's 1965 assassination; in the late 1970s and early 1980s hosted hip-hop showcases, including the Cold Crush Brothers vs. Fantastic Five battle (1981). Now home to the Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center.
