Summary

Three-part Netflix documentary directed by Coodie Simmons and Chike Ozah ('Coodie & Chike') drawn from more than two decades of footage of Kanye West, starting before his 2002 Roc-A-Fella deal and continuing through the 2020s. The series premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2022.

Hip-hop relevance

An unusually long-arc embedded portrait of a major hip-hop figure, assembled by filmmakers who started shooting West during the Through the Wire era. It widened the template for hip-hop docs by combining vérité footage from before fame with later access to a global superstar.
