All Eyez on Me

Director1

  • Benny Boom

Summary

Benny Boom's biopic of Tupac Shakur, with Demetrius Shipp Jr. in the lead role, Danai Gurira as Afeni Shakur and Jamal Woolard reprising his Notorious role as the Notorious B.I.G. The film moves from Tupac's Baltimore childhood through Death Row Records and his 1996 murder.

Hip-hop relevance

The first wide-release narrative feature solely focused on Tupac, released on what would have been his 46th birthday. Drew mixed critical reception and pushback from collaborators including Jada Pinkett Smith, but became a high-grossing entry in the hip-hop biopic cycle.
