Hip-hop relevance

Supreme, founded by James Jebbia on Lafayette Street in Lower Manhattan in 1994, was an immediate fixture of the downtown New York skate/rap nexus. Its rap-collaboration discography includes Wu-Tang Clan (the 2014 capsule featuring the Wu-Tang logo), Public Enemy (a 2006 box-logo set), Mobb Deep, Nas, Kanye West, A$AP Mob, and a long-running thread of one-off photo tees featuring rappers from Biggie to Tupac. VF Corporation acquired Supreme in 2020 for $2.1B; EssilorLuxottica acquired it from VF in 2024.
