About
Hiphopstorian is an interactive history of hip-hop — curator-led, with every claim backed by a public source recorded in the underlying data.
The site is built as a graph: marquee moments branch out to the people, albums and songs, venues and scenes, and cultural objects they touched. Browse by era, by year, by calendar date (every day with a hip-hop anniversary has a permalink), or follow the branches wherever they lead.
How to use it
- Pick an era from the timeline
- Look up someone on people
- Read the diss-track chronology on a beef page
- Check today's calendar date on the on-this-day strip
Sourcing
Every node in the data carries a citations[] array with at least
one source. The full sourcing policy (tier A / B / C / never) is on the
methodology page; the canonical source roster is
on sources.
What it isn't (yet)
v1 is curator-led. There is no open-contribution surface. If you spot an error or want to flag something for inclusion, see contribute.
